Christians Support Obama?

Tom Estes I continue to be amazed by the amount of support President Obama continues to receive from Christians. Especially when you consider that nearly every move he has made since taking the oath of office, and even prior to that, has been a direct assault on the basic principles of Christianity.

If you don’t believe me here are a few examples:
- While giving a speech in Turkey, President Obama stated that we are NOT a Christian nation. This statement is completely asinine, especially when considering that 76.5% of Americans, according to religious tolerance.org, claim to be Christian. I have no doubt that President Obama was aware of this figure when he made the false claim, so why did he say it? I have little doubt this statement was made to further advance his anti-God ideology.
- While President Obama was still an Illinois state senator, he was the ONLY one who thought babies that survive abortions shouldn’t receive medical attention. This just goes way beyond the pale. It amazes me that anyone would hold the position that innocent little babies who were, by the grace of God, able to survive their murder attempt, should not be allowed to receive medical attention. And what was his rationale for taking such a morally repugnant position? He claimed that it would monopolize too much time for poor, over-worked doctors. Which makes sense, right? We can’t be expecting doctors to expend too much energy saving the lives of innocent children, after all, if their hands get tired saving lives, how can we expect them to write out all those vitally important Viagra prescriptions? I’m ashamed of my president’s vile viewpoint on this issue.
- Should any Christian be for socialism? Because we know our president is. All Christians should agree with the Bible, and the Bible says that we should be willing to provide for our own families, and not regard it as our government’s responsibility. Since it is painfully obvious that President Obama is more ideologically aligned with Karl Marx than the Apostle Paul, his support amongst Christians should be waning.
- Have Christians forgotten; when President Obama went to Georgetown University, he demanded that any and all Christian figures or statements be covered up? Why would someone who isn’t opposed to Christianity do this?
- And finally, let’s look at President Obama’s views on gay marriage. (Or as I like to call it, “Hot Freezer.”) He says he’s against it, but then just six months into his first (and please let it be his only) term, he makes it possible for federal employees to have their gay partners covered by their taxpayer funded health benefits. If this is how he behaves when he’s “against” gay marriage, can you imagine what he’d be like if he were in favor of it? Me neither.
Here’s the HardTruth.
While I believe in respecting the office of the president, I do not believe I have to support his policies. And it continues to escape me how anyone who claims to be a Christian (which means someone who is Christ-like, or at least has the desire to be.) could support the anti-God policies that our president continues to advance. It is my belief that if Christians would stop voting with their wallets, and start voting with their conscience, our country would be a much better place, and that’s the HardTruth.
